Volunteer Profiles
Robyn J.
Robyn is one of our very dedicated and reliable student volunteers.
She is a grade 10 student who began to
volunteer just over a year ago to gain
employable experience. She chose to volunteer
at Deer Lodge Centre because she wanted
an opportunity to work with the elderly
and was familiar with the Facility as
many members of her family are employed
at the Centre. Robyn began to volunteer
by providing meal assistance and helping
out with the coffee program in Chad's
Place on Saturday mornings. She enjoyed
her experience so much that soon her role
expanded to assisting residents in the
cafeteria on Tuesdays and Thursdays at
supper. Robyn enjoys her volunteer work
because she likes to meet knew people
and gets to know many people including
residents and staff. And it is quite apparent
that she has a great rapport with many.
Thank-you Robyn for your hard work.
Student volunteers, like Robyn, are a growing
trend at Deer Lodge Centre. The St. James
School division requires students entering
Senior 1 to complete 40 hours of volunteer
work prior to graduation. This new requirement
will definitely have impact on the Centre
and we welcome more youth participation.
Anyone interested can call Rosie directly
at 831-2541.
